In this post, let us see step by step instructions on how to create SQL Server Virtual machine and connect to SQL Server.
Login into azure portal and goto VIRTUAL MACHINES

Now select FROM GALLERY

I went with latest version available SQL Server 2016 CTP 3.2 Evaluation.

Provide VIRTUAL MACHINE NAME, NEW USER NAME & PASSWORD:

Provide CLOUD SERVICE DNS NAME & STORAGE ACCOUNT


Note: You will have to wait few minutes for your VM to be created.
Goto VIRTUAL MACHINES in the bottom you will notice Connect option -> click on that

Provide VM name &User name & Password that was mentioned while configuring VM.
Once connected goto Search -> type SSMS and Connect to SQL Server as shown below:


Steps to create SQL Server VM:

Steps to connect VM & SQL Server:
Goto VIRTUAL MACHINES in the bottom you will notice Connect option -> click on that
You will be prompted to open .rdp file, click Open and Connect as shown in below images:
Provide VM name &User name & Password that was mentioned while configuring VM.
Once connected goto Search -> type SSMS and Connect to SQL Server as shown below:
